1. We fought for the right for "Full Collective Bargaining" and the Legislatures want to stop us any way they can.
2.
We don't have the right to use "Collective Bargaining" until we show the Legislatures that we (the majority) want our rights
to sit at the table and discuss our needs.
3. We are dead in the water without your signature.
4. Your "Voice"
is not being heard at the table while we are having this budget crisis!
1. It is not a waste of time.
2. It is NOT an attempt by AFSCME or Council 81 or 837 to take out more Union dues.
3.
It is NOT a scheme by the Union to get more members.
4. It is NOT a way to harrass you on the job.
5. It is
NOT a way to get you enter a second Union!
SENATE BILL 36 PASSES IN THE HOUSE 26-10
STATE WORKERS ARE ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE REALIZATION OF FULL COLLECTIVE BARGAINING RIGHTS
Today,
Friday, June 29, 2007, shortly after midnight, AFSCME Council 81 saw the passage of Senate Bill 36 in the House of Representatives
by a vote of 26-10. This follows the passage of the bill in the Senate two weeks ago on June 14, 2007. The bill now goes to Governor
Minner for her signature. Governor Minner has previously stated that the bill had her support and she would sign it if it reached
her desk.
To a crowd of cheering supporters, Delaware Public Employees Council 81 AFSCME Executive Director, Michael A. Begatto,
gave his thanks to the sponsors, co-sponsors and those who voted for the bill in the Senate and the House. He also thanked the many
supporters of the bill from the other labor organizations and political organizations. "We can't thank the legislature enough for
their courage and determination despite extreme opposition to see that State employees are treated fairly," Begatto said thanking
all.
He especially thanked the members and leaders of locals in AFSCME Council 81 in Delaware. “Without the support and hard
work on this bill our members gave, we would not have been successful. I give them my great praise and thanks for their continuing
belief and support on this landmark legislation,” Begatto stated.
